We have witnessed dozens, maybe even hundreds, of various anime series that have appeared during the past few decades and each one of them has something new and unique and each one of those was an attempt to have a kind of a breakthrough. In the world of anime series, there have been various directions and kinds of those, and some of those are defined as steampunk anime series. We will now see the best steampunk anime series.

The official release of this steampunk anime took place in the summer of 2007 and the production was entrusted to brains Base. We should also mention that this one went well when MAL rating was concerned it is 8.57 and the anime series are ranked 71. Many people argue whether it is actually a steampunk anime or not, but it surely deserves in this category. The best thing about the series is the fact that there are some elements related to alternative history. The plot deals with the time around the Great Depression. However, no one fights small criminals, the fight is now with alchemists who are immortal.

Tenkuu no Shiro Laputa (Castle in the Sky)

When we talk about Tenkuu no Shiro Laputa, we should mention that the first episode was aired on the 2nd August in 1986. It is considered as one of the oldest and iconic of its kind. As far as the MAL rating is concerned, it is 8.39 while the ranking is 163. The production was done by Studio Ghibli. Even though the setting is in the Industrial Era, we should point out that there is an airship and that there are sci-fi designs.

Fullmetal Alchemist

Fullmetal Alchemist was released in the fall of 2003 while the production was done by Bones. We should say that the Mal rating is 8.35 while the ranking is 178. We should mention that the entire plot of the anime is centered on the world that is a parallel world to the one the characters are living in since the main force in the anime is alchemy. It should be added that it was this alchemy that made all kinds of scientific discoveries and developments possible.

Giant Robo the Animation: Chikyuu ga Seishi Suru Hi (The Day the Earth Stood Still)

This is also one of the classics and one of the pioneers when we are talking about steampunk anime. First of all, the premiere took place on the 23rd July 1992 and the anime was going on until the 25th January 1998. When we are talking about the production, it was done by Bandai Visual. Furthermore, the MAL rating was 8.02 while the ranking is 492.

Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World (Kino’s Journey)

For the first time, we saw this one in spring in 2003, and the production was done by A.C.G.T. the MAL rating is 8.48 while the ranking is 111. We should also mention the disrupted concept of time in the series.
